Job Description:

Joel Gott Wines is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to assist our winemaker with overseeing fruit arrivals and fermentations between our two winemaking facilities in the Dundee area, and sampling vineyards for maturity throughout the Willamette Valley. The position is more of an oversight role as opposed to a hands-on cellar position, however, it requires the knowledge of cellar and winemaking practices to effectively communicate harvest operations to our winemaking team. We are looking for a candidate who will excel in a small team overseeing the premium production of Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir for the 2025 vintage beginning in early August. RESPONSIBILITIES:ALL Oversee initial grape receival, crushing, additions, and various aspects of wine production Monitor fermentations, collect tank samples, check daily Brix and temperatures Verify work orders and winemaking protocols are followed correctly Act as communication liaison between custom crush supervisors and Joel Gott winemaking team Distribute samples and products between facilities as needed Set up laboratory trials and tastings Enter analysis results in winemaking database and Excel spreadsheets Collect grape samples as needed, assessing maturity and recording field observations Perform Brix and pH analysis on vineyard samples (using DMA, refractometer, pH meter) Assist in processing juice samples for analysis and tasting Data entry of sample results and field notesREQUIREMENTS: B.S. in Viticulture & Enology or similar Science field (or in the process of obtaining a degree) preferred, but not required Previous lab/harvest experience, familiarity, and experience with winemaking practices Hard working, ability to follow written and verbal instructions Good observation and analytical skills, proficient in MS Excel Good interpersonal skills, proven ability to work well with other employees Ability to clearly and accurately document information Ability to work long hours, weekends Extensive walking and ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs Exposure to outside elements and physical work (lifting, bending, climbing, squatting) Valid OR driver's license and clean DMV report requiredPlease email cover letter and resume.Job category: Winemaker/Enologist
